Panther Time Out: Top Five Late-Night Snack Spots in Miami

Jake Hawkins

The late-night urge to snack is one that, despite advice your doctor may give you, sometimes cannot be avoided. Whether it be after a party, a stressful school day that warrants a comfort ice cream trip or “just because,” South Florida is home to a multitude of satiating late-night snack spots guaranteed to fill any urge or craving.

Pinecrest Bakery

Starting strong with a Miami “cult-classic,” Pinecrest Bakery, more popularly known as PCB, is the 24-hour hub for the late-night munchies and a post-party landing spot. The Cuban-American bakery is host to pastelitos, croquetas and Cuban sandwiches like no other. Despite the name saying otherwise, PCB has extended its reach beyond Pinecrest and as far south as the Florida Keys and as far north as North Miami Beach. Keep PCB in mind the next time you feel the urge for a Cuban snack or sweet treat.

Sushi Sake

A personal favorite, Sushi Sake is home to some of the best special fried rice and shrimp sauce out there. The fast service and 10/10 Japanese food make this the perfect spot for group late-night sushi cravings; open until midnight, Sushi Sake has over 25 locations across Miami-Dade County and is largely popular among Miami’s teenage scene — you are bound to see someone you know on a Friday night at Sushi Sake.

Insomnia Cookies

Known for their late-night deliveries, the Insomnia Cookies location in South Miami and their hours reaching as late as 1 a.m., provides a menu stacked with a wide variety of flavors. Some of these include but are not limited to, carrot cake, cranberry white chocolate, chocolate chip brookies and cap’n crunch flavored cookies — all delivered warm to your doorstep until 12:30 a.m.. Their location just outside the University of Miami campus off Red Road must be of great convenience to the college life surrounding the hotspot, serving as a scrumptious sweet treat for those late-night sweet-tooth indulgers.

Top That Yogurt

As the only frozen yogurt spot in the Miami area for miles, Top That Yogurt truly bears the name well. With a plethora of flavors and endless toppings, the good vibes shared among friends over a cup of froyo at Top That is irreplaceable. Located off Sunset Drive in Kendall with a closing time of 11 p.m., Top That is the perfect spot to treat yourself to some froyo.

McDonald’s

Last but definitely not least, McDonald’s is the staple late-night snack spot. While not necessarily specific to a particular aspect of Miami culture, McDonald’s is the universal 24-hour drive-thru spot for just about the entire U.S., if not the world. Nothing beats a decided, “let’s get some McFlurries and fries” at any and all hours of the night.

While late-night snacking may be delicious, it is advisable to only indulge in this kind of diet occasionally, as eating junk food late at night probably is not the best for one’s system, but it is okay to give in sometimes.
