On Nov. 18, thousands of officers, community leaders, family and friends came to honor the life and service of Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Deputy Devin Jaramillo. The 27-year-old officer was fatally shot during a traffic accident investigation. The memorial service was held at LoanDepot Park. At the park, his family and the Miami-Dade Sheriff Wayne A. Jones proceeded to deliver memorable eulogies. The young deputy was admired by many for his integrity and commitment to serving his local community.
Additionally, Jaramillo has a long line of family members who also served their community. His father, David Jaramillo, is a retired Miami-Dade police detective. Devin Jaramillo graduated from the University of Central Florida, where he double majored in Criminal Justice and Public Administration. Devin was with MDSO for two years after previously being an officer with the Coral Gables Police Department for four years.
