A Look into Two of Miami’s Newest Barbie-Inspired Pop-ups

The Barbie Cafe

After wrapping up their pop-up stops in New York, Illinois and Minnesota, the Malibu Barbie Cafe will make its next stop on Feb. 9 in Wynwood for all of Miami’s Kens and Barbies.

The trendy cafe transports customers to 1970s Malibu, Calif., with a sea of bright Barbie colors, laid-back beachy decor and floor-to-ceiling retro glam. Tickets for the cafe start at $29, and walk-ins are not permitted due to high demand. The pop-up experience will also come complete with exclusive merchandise and a variety of signature moments for fans to interact with such as..

At the heart of the cafe is a pink decked-out roller rink, and tickets to skate are only $1. All proceeds from the rink are donated to Girls Inc., an organization that equips girls in Miami with the tools, resources and role models to grow up strong, smart and bold. The Barbie Cafe has partnered with Girls Inc. to create a year-long, free, after-school and summer program where girls immerse themselves in creative art, challenging STEM and engaging Life Skills activities.

The cafe’s menu, set by Chef Becky Brown, was created with all tastes and preferences — featuring an array of classics with a Barbie twist. Coined as “fast-casual Barbiecore,” one should expect a menu of ‘Beach Burgers’ and ‘West Coast Wave Salads,’ ‘Pacific Paradise Pancakes’ and ‘Tubular Tenders.’ The cafe also offers a cupcake-filled mega-yacht that sails right to the table. Even the hummus is the signature Barbie pink.

Whether you are a longtime Barbie fan, celebrating a special occasion or just gathering with friends, the cafe has something for everyone. This one-of-a-kind experience is perfect for making memories with BFFs, kids, families, a date or your girl squad.

Barbie Dreamhouse Truck

After driving through California, Mattel’s Barbie Dreamhouse truck will make its way to the Sunshine State, bringing along limited edition merchandise for the Barbie-loving residents of Florida.

As a part of its Dreamhouse Living Tour, the rainbow-colored Barbie truck stops at three South Florida malls throughout February. The current stops include inside Sawgrass Mills (in the Colonnade Outlets near the Matchbox Restaurant from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Aventura Mall (near the Slide Tower and Apple store from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Dolphin Mall (in the Fountain Plaza from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

Customers will have access to limited edition Barbie-themed merchandise, including bright and playful accessories, home goods and “Dream Wear.”

The tour began on Jan. 13 in Carlsbad, Calif., and will take its last stop on March 23 in Walnut Creek, Calif..
