13-Year-Old in Hialeah Arrested for Alleged Murder of Mother

On Thursday, around 11:30 p.m. authorities received a call from a 13-year-old boy in Hialeah confessing to the murder of his own mother at 11 W. 79th Place.

Once police arrived at the scene, they found the deceased mother on the bed, with an unharmed seven-day-old baby in a crib beside the crime scene.

The investigation of the murder is now underway and the boy is in custody.

The apartment complex is called the Amelia Oaks apartment complex. Further, when arriving at the scene, bloody footprints were found on the stairs leading up to the apartment.

The reason for the murder has not yet been specified. The boy’s mother was 39 years old, and the newborn at the crime scene was the boy’s half-sister.

Police have not released further details on how the murder went about, but neighbors believe it was a stabbing.
