Early Tuesday morning, pro golfer Tiger Woods suffered serious injuries after a rollover crash near Rancho Palos Verdes, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff.

Woods was the sole passenger of a 2021 Genesis GV8o SUV traveling north on Hawthorne Boulevard when the crash occurred just past 7 a.m.

According to the Los Angeles police, Woods was traveling at a relatively fast speed while descending down a hill. He then hit a center divider, a tree and a curb in the crash. The road where Woods traveled is a common place for accidents, given its slopes and curves.

The scene of the accident shows no signs of skid marks or breaking, meaning that Woods did not appear to have tried to slow down before the rollover accident.

Police first found Woods trapped in his vehicle, where they later extracted him from. Officials transported Woods to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center — a trauma center — by ambulance, where Woods remains in a critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Wood’s injuries include two leg fractures and a shattered ankle.

According to Carlos Gonzales, the Los Angeles sheriff’s Deputy, Woods appeared conscious and could remember his name, but remained in shock when found. Currently, deputies see no evidence of impairment, and he continues to receive treatment at the medical center.
