That’s so vintage?

Vintage, thrift, consignment, resale, Goodwill, all being worn by worldwide celebrities, the wealthy and  the average were once considered for the lower class That’s right- average Americans are flocking to these unique, indy stores lately mainly because they are trendy now, but mostly because they are economical.

“I just love shopping at anywhere that is labeled, vintage! It’s so interesting to know that other people owned it and now it’s mine” Juliet Habid said. “ Everything is so funky and unique, I strive to be different.”

Since fashion is ever changing, the concept of thrift stores is easy on the wallet to the slaves of fashion. If one wants to be current yet different, it can be costly to shop at traditional department stores, mall chains or boutiques.

“I find it so much more appealing to hunt for my clothes and if that means combing the racks of vintage places so I don’t have to wear the same Hollister shirt that everyone else is wearing then so be it” Priscilla Diaz said. “It’s like an adventure!”

In the past, being “different” meant searching through local thrift stores where the mainstream avoid. However, that is changing; people are embracing the vintage, used market to do their shopping now because it has become socially acceptable and even “cool.” As a result, what some considered old, is now the “new, new.”
