Mr. Panthers lasso swooning girls

“Alec! Dylan! Liam! Patrick!” What flooded the auditorium from the cacophony of screams of the hundreds of teenage girls swooning over the 25 contestants vying to be Mr. Panther 2014. All of the participants were ready, willing and able to step out of their comfort zone to embarrass themselves in front of students, teachers and parents. They danced and shimmied, posed and primped and there was definitely some booty popping in a fight to earn the title of Mr. Panther.

After the contestants pranced around in the swimsuit competition half naked, the judges narrowed down the list of participants to the top ten.

Next up — the ten hopeful contestants had to perform in the talent segment of the show. Time for Mr. Omega, Ricardo Polo, to take the stage. He showed off his (O)mega skills as he played the piano and sang Apologize by One Republic. David Lee, Mr. Leo Club, started his performance by taking a selfie with the audience in the background. He bravely danced and sang You’re a Man by Josh Turner. As he finished, Lee blew a kiss to the crowd, curtsied and walked off the stage.

Alec Ede, Mr. Women Of Tomorrow, stole the show with a bold version of the song Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot. He wowed the crowd as well as the judges by doing the worm across the stage and performing the vocals while the audience screamed.

Next on stage, Mr. Girls Swimming, Joseph “Liam” Hunt, who danced around dressed as Hannah Montana, to the songs Nobody’s PerfectBest of Both Worlds and Hoedown Throwdown. Then Hunt channeled his inner Miley withParty in the USA, then “twerked” to present day Cyrus with a foam finger to We Can’t Stop (without much clothing). And he could not be stopped when he came in like a wrecking ball with only with booty shorts with the Panther paw printed on the back.

Mr. Art National Honor Society, Devin Carvajal showed off his artistic talent when he painted a picture of judge and Marine Science teacher Alex Osuna. Of course Carvajal was shirtless while painting Osuna as a shirtless merman with a blue tail.

Last, but certainly not least, was Erick Cinco, Mr. Social Science Honor Society. He played three different guitars, each with a distinct sound. He recorded the guitars as he played and then played them all back at the same time.

After the talent portion, the top five contestants were announced. Erick Cinco, Ricardo Polo, Alec Ede, Devin Carvajal and Daniel Ledbetter. Each had to answer a question related to the school. Then it was time for the big reveal. Mr. Congeniality went to Alec Ede, Mr. Women of Tomorrow. Mr. Talent went to Erick Cinco. But, Mr. Panther of 2014 went to Alec Ede!
