The Miami Open, a professional men and women’s tennis tournament, is scheduled to take place from Mar. 22 to April 4.

Played on outdoor hard courts, the Miami Open will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. After the tournaments’ founding in 1985, the Miami Open took place at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne, Florida from 1987 until 2018. The tournament moved to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens in 2019, where it has remained since.

Hard Rock Stadium acquired the Global Biorisk Advisory Council’s STAR accreditation. GBAC — a division of the International Sports Sciences Association and a worldwide cleaning industry association — has a goal of implementing cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention practices to help prevent COVID-19 and keep everyone present safe.

This year, seating in the usual stadium court remains largely unavailable to the public. All ticket packages purchased for the original 2021 tournament have been automatically rolled over to the 2022 tournament. The Grandstand Court, the new main court for the 2021 tournament, is a permanent structure with a capacity of 5,000.

To ensure safety for everyone attending, a limited number of ticket packages with reserved seats remain available for purchase.

One may park in the lot directly adjacent to the stadium, a few minutes’ walk to the primary entrance to the tournament. Certain premium ticket and hospitality packages may offer valet parking.

Many of the biggest names in tennis are scheduled to play in the Miami Open this year, including star players Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. All of the top 20 players in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings have entered, including Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep and Sofia Kenin.

Qualifying rounds, from Mar. 22 to 23, dictate the 12 additional slots in each singles’ draw. The Miami Open also awards wildcards to five men and eight women. The women’s main draw begins on Tuesday, Mar. 23, followed by the first round of the men’s main draw on Wednesday, Mar. 24.
