YNW Melly’s alleged double homicide case may come to a close as an audio recording of the rapper has surfaced, in which he confesses to the double homicide charges he received in 2018 for the murders of YNW Sakchasher and YNW Juvy.

In early 2019, Jamell Maurice Demons, otherwise known by his stage name, YNW Melly, turned himself in after the double murders of two other rappers in the YNW collective.

Oct. 26, 2018, Christopher Thomas Jr. and Anthony Willlams arrived at Memorial Hospital Miramar due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained by both men. The men did not survive and declared dead at 4:35 am upon arrival.

Williams went by the stage name YNW Sakchasher while Thomas went by YNW Juvy.

On Feb. 12, 2019, police officers arrested Cortlen Henry, another member of the rapper collective, in Texas and charged him with first-degree murder. One day later, Demons turned himself in to officials in Broward county and also received a charge of first-degree murder.

Cortlen Henry also known by his stage name, YNW Bortlen, received the proposal of a bail set at $180,000,which facilitated his release on May 23, 2020.

The two rappers had made the death of their associates seem like a drive-by shooting, but evidence found by Miramar police told them otherwise.

Although the rapper turned himself in, Demons fought for freedom in court for the past year and a half.

The main piece of evidence towards the case consists of a .40 caliber handgun found in the car, proving that Demons had been in the car the same night of the shooting. This matched the casings found at the crime scene. Other evidence that incriminated the Florida rapper, included cell phone records and surveillance video.

The case continues to develop as Broward officials review the audio recording of Melly allegedly confessing for the double homicide.
