Panthers face the challenges of Homecoming pressures
But let’s be honest. Real life is no “High School Musical.” Not everyone is friends with everyone, and we all don’t sing and dance on tables showing how happy we are to be in school! But one thing most students do look forward to is Homecoming and Prom.
What’s better than a night filled with dancing and spending time with all your friends, without a worry on your mind? But not everything is that easy; unlike everyday life, school is filled with peer pressure and a lot more stress then we are normally used to.
A simple night can seriously become something ten times more complex than it needs to be. A lot of people might have promised themselves they would never drink, or be under the influence of anything other then their own judgment, but a couple words from some strong-spoken friends and the perfect combination of events can easily change that.
You have to really know who you surround yourself with and be safe in these types of situations, and know whom you can trust.
Do not get me wrong, I enjoy a good party as much as the next person, but even I realize when saying “no” becomes harder and harder. It is all about self control; although we might not notice it, the people we call our “friends” sometimes are not so “friendly,” and dances and high school events can sometimes let a person’s true colors shine.
On the other hand, everyone’s not a bad person; your best friends are called that for a reason, right? These nights can really be like a true Cinderella Story, not the one with Hillary Duff because we do not live in California and we are not magically dating Chad Michael Murry, but take away the fake bleach blonde hair and mouth-drooling six pack and maybe a couple edits here and there, and our night can be just as magical and fairy tale-like as we have always dreamed.
Some people can gain some of their most memorable and breathtaking memories from these nights. People say it only takes two to party, so try around 600 and, to me, that sounds like a pretty successful event.
Remember, some nights can go from bad to worse, but a positive attitude and good friends surrounding you can truly make a difference.
Everything is in your hands, and you are in control of how your night will unfold, so make it worth your wild and just like The Black Eyed Peas said, “Tonight’s gonna to be a good night.”
