Trump Officially Announces 2024 Candidacy

Paulina Handal, Staff Writer

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, former President Donald J. Trump announced that he will be re-running in the 2024 Presidential election. He is aiming to become the second commander-in-chief ever in history to be elected to two non-consecutive terms.

Trump saw the opportunity to run and bring back the Republican majority when Republicans failed to get the senate majority in the midterms. Even after the loss of a second term during the 2020 Presidential election, Trump has a large group of followers and leads the bulk of the Republican party.

This news excites Republicans in their hope for a ‘fixed America.’ On the other hand, democrats are concerned. Trump is the first candidate to officially announce that he is running for the 2024 elections, giving him a jumpstart. This worries followers of the Democratic Party, as well as other Republican candidates who feel that Trump’s running will affect their chances.
