On Nov. 6, rapper King Von passed away. Earlier that morning, Von had gotten in a gunfight, which later resulted in his death when he was shot by one of the people in the other group.

At around 3 a.m., two groups outside a nightclub in Atlanta argued. The arguing grew so intensely that both groups exchanged gunfire. Atlanta police officers came to assist the situation and each fired a shot. The Atlanta Police Department said that Von was killed in the initial shootout and not by their officers trying to stop it.

While none of the officers that tried stopping the shootout got hurt, three people involved in the gunfight have died and three currently reside in the hospital while being treated. While being taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, Von later passed away in the hospital at the age of 26.

Von, a rising rapper, grew up in Chicago. He was known for his storytelling through his music. His debut album, Welcome To O’Block, released Oct. 30. This album told the story about living in Chicago’s O’Block neighborhood, and all the difficult things he went through while living there, such as dealing with the criminal justice system from an early age.

Back in 2012, Von was arrested for the unlawful possession of a firearm. And in 2014, he faced two counts of attempted murder and one count of first degree murder. In Chicago, there was a shooting that left one dead and two injured on the scene. Von was later not charged with either counts of murder.

Throughout his whole music career, Von’s music has over 575 million audio and video streams.
