The boys’ and girls’ bowling teams both finished their seasons on November 1 after being defeated in the district tournament. The boys’ team achieved a record of 6-1 while the girls’ team finished their season 4-3.
The girls’ team finished fourth out of ten and had an especially successful year considering that they added three new senior bowlers to the team – Kathleen Hand, Rebecca Iriarte and Francisca Comparini. The boys’ team also had an excellent season finishing a strong season 6-1.
Though both the boys’ and the girls’ teams were unable to advanced to the state tournament, freshman Dominic Costanzo from the boys’ team and senior Kristen Haller from the girls’ team were able to bowl well enough to advance to the state tournament individually. Haller advanced to the state tournament for the third straight time and it was the first state tournament for Costanzo.
“It felt good to go back to states” Haller said. “It never gets old”
The tournament was held at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando from November 8 through November 10. Despite bowling excellent games, both Haller and Costanzo were unable to find success, failing to move past the first round of the tournament.
“They were both unable to make it past the first round despite bowling above their personal average,” boys’ and girls’ bowling Coach Cristie Hirth said. “But I’m still very proud of them for all they’ve accomplished.”
