Heisman Watch:
Cameron Newton: The Auburn quarterback leads the Heisman race while leading his Tigers to the top spot in the BCS poll. Without many stars around him, Newton has been able to put up monstrous stats of over 2,200 yards passing, 1,300 yards rushing, and a combined 42 touchdowns. The other candidates include Oregon running back LaMichael James (1,500 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns), Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore (3,200 yards passing and 30 touchdowns), Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon (1,600 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns) and Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck (3,000 yards passing and 28 touchdowns). The 2010 Heisman trophy will be presented on December 11 at 8 p.m.
Bowl Predictions:
Allstate Sugar Bowl: Arkansas Razorbacks over Ohio State Buckeyes – SEC teams always prevail and Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett is too much for the Buckeyes to handle.
Discover Orange Bowl: Stanford Cardinals over Virginia Tech Hokies – Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck may be the best NFL-ready QB.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma
Sooners over Connecticut Huskies – Oklahoma is just straight up better than UConn.
Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO: Wisconsin Badgers over TCU Horned Frogs – Wisconsin is on a roll, winning two of its past three games with 70 points of offense.
Tostitos BCS National Championship Game: Auburn Tigers over Oregon Ducks – Even though they have the best hurry-up and one of the most explosive offenses in the country, the Ducks will not be able to contain the future Heisman trophy winner in Cameron Newton. Oregon has the superior defensive and offensive weapons, but they don’t have the most dangerous man in the country on their team. Besides, you can never go wrong picking an SEC team; the national champion coming from that conference the past four seasons.
