The City of Miami Beach is paying tribute to Cuban-American singer-songwriterGloria Estefan by renaming 13th St. at Ocean Drive in her honor. The initiative, proposed by the Miami Beach Commission for Women and approved by city commissioners, recognizes Estefan’s impact on both the global music scene and the local community.
Estefan, a longtime Miami Beach resident, co-owns the historic Cardozo Hotel that is located on the newly named street. City officials noted that the location holds special meaning, as Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan have been instrumental in preserving the area’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.
Known for hits like “Conga,”“Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” and “Get On Your Feet,” Estefan has earned multiple Grammy Awards and helped bring Miami’s vibrant Latin sound to international audiences. Commissioner Laura Dominguez called her “the embodiment of the American dream,” celebrating her journey from being a Cuban immigrant to global superstar.
The renaming officially recognizes her lasting legacy and deep connection to Miami Beach.
