On Aug. 4, The Falls shopping mall opened a one-of-a-kind experience to Miami residents. Life Time Gym is a 120,000-square-foot athletic country club open weekly from 4 a.m. to 12 a.m. to members of all ages. In its first few months alone, Life Time has become a household name amongst trained athletes and beginners alike. It offers more than 20 classes, two pools, a spa, cold plunges, jacuzzis, changing rooms, a salon, cafe, lounge, conference room, a children’s room, a workspace and a floor full of cardio machines and weights; Life Time is the place to be for any gym rat.
More than just a gym, Life Time is a lifestyle; a vibrant hub and a break from the hustle and bustle of Miami life. It is a place to make connections and forever friendships.
”I can go and get a workout but I can also go in and rest my mind. I can go and schedule a coffee or a tea with somebody,” Life Time workout class trainer Lehla Olson said.
Life Time Barre Instructor, Lily Schirmer-Myers, stresses the importance of variety in her workout routine. She likes to mix it up and keep it exciting. She also wants to make it easy for the people who are just starting since it is harder to do some workouts.
“[Barre] has a little bit of everything, it goes by really quickly, and there are many different variations to the workout,” Schirmer-Myers said.
Keeping it fresh and exciting aids in encouraging more routine exercise and consistency while working towards fitness goals.
One of the main failings for typical gyms is their inability to keep people returning after one or two workouts, but Life Time’s atmosphere, community and variety foster an environment for all people, regardless of skill level or age to thrive.
“You have all ages, you have infants all the way up to teenagers or you could be doing something with your parents or with your sister, so there’s so many options, and that really is unique,” Schirmer-Myers said.
Life Time is a place for everyone to create new habits, reach new goals and live healthier lives.
