Best Pumpkin Spice Across the City

As the fall feels return to the community, shops and bakeries begin to bring out the holiday favorites: displays of pumpkin spice treats make an appearance and in a seasonless Miami, it marks the beginning of fall.

“Pumpkin spice is the flavor that perfectly encapsulates the fall feel in one sip. Every time I have my Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks, I have an immediate feel of fall,” Miami Palmetto Senior High School junior Kylie Zimelman said.

Starbucks, one of the leading coffee shops in America, provides an assortment of new and fun fall-seasoned treats and beverages each year. Some of their pumpkin spice staples include the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, Pumpkin & Pepita Loaf and Pumpkin Scone.

The company was first established in the city of Miami in 1997 and has remained a fall favorite for many, especially teens.

“Since we don’t have seasons we need to get a fall and winter feeling from external things and pumpkin spice is one of them. We [Starbucks] have them once a year and it definitely gets people ready for fall and gives them something other than a weather change,” MPSH junior and Starbucks Barista Giulia Maggi said.

Starbucks not only offers a selection of pumpkin spice delicacies, but the environment of the shop is the selling point for many.

“Pumpkin spice products always sell extremely well when we have them and I would say they are probably one of our top five most popular drinks during the fall season, and because of our shop’s cozy ambiance, people really gravitate to it more,” Maggi said.

The city of Miami also offers a few other shops that offer iconic pumpkin spice must-haves. Brewing Buddha Cafe and The Salty Donut are staples for Miami locals. The two shops are popular throughout the year, but when October arrives they embrace the autumn feel.

“For fall I definitely recommend our pumpkin spice french toast [donut] and gluten-free sticky toffee, which has a taste similar to pecan pie,” South Miami Salty Donut Key Holder Natalie A. said.

With locations already standing in South Miami and Wynwood, The Salty Donut plans to soon expand to Coconut Grove.

Brewing Buddha cafe, located in the Village Plaza of Pinecrest, offers a pumpkin pie latte perfect for all pumpkin spice cravings.

“Brewing Buddha’s pumpkin pie latte is one of the most delicious pumpkin lattes, and since their cafe is so close to the school, it is the perfect after-school snack, whenever I am trying to get in the fall mood, I definitely recommend it,” Zimelman said.

Although it is warm and summery during Miami’s fall season, savoring a delicious pumpkin spice treat from the city’s bakeries and cafes allows one to almost feel the crisp fall weather.
