34-year-old Amandeep Singh has been accused of drunk driving and killing two 14-year-old boys, Drew Hassenbein and Ethan Falkowitz in a car accident. The eighth graders attended Roslyn Middle School and were tennis players. The boys both played for their local high school’s varsity tennis team and are said to be some of the team’s top players.

Two other boys sitting on the left side of the car, ages 16 and 17, survived but suffered internal injuries. Sitting on the right side of the car, Hassenbein and Falkowitz faced the brunt of the collision. The boys were returning from a tennis match at the time of the crash

The courthouse was full of family members and friends of the boys to the point where they could not all fit inside the courthouse.

“I can tell you there’s a dark cloud above Roslyn. Everybody is impacted by this and feels the loss, even people who never got a chance to meet either of the boys,” Jake Levine, one of the boys’ friends, said. “They were both the sweetest boys who had the brightest futures. I was at court when the selfless drunk driver was fighting for bail. There were so many people here who showed their remorse and fought for this guy to get the punishment he deserves.”

Singh, the alleged drunk driver, is faced with aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated, as well as first-degree vehicular manslaughter and second-degree manslaughter. He is a married father of two, and if convicted, will face eight to 25 years of the top court. He was said to be driving on the wrong side of the road when he ran into the Alfa Romeo with the teenagers. His blood alcohol level read to be 1.8, which is twice the legal limit. Singh’s hearing will take place on June 6.
