The Trend of the “Bowl”

During 2020, bowls became the new food craze. While these aesthetically- pleasing snacks are available at some restaurants, one can also make them at home.

A smoothie bowl contains a mixture of different tropical fruits and berries like mangoes, dragon fruit, strawberries and more. A variety of milks or a selection of fruit juices can be added to the bowl. Once all the ingredients have been added, blend them together to make a delicious, thick smoothie bowl.

Another option for a refreshing and fruity bowl is an acai bowl, which uses a blend of acai berries and other fruits as the base. Toppings for acai bowls include coconut flakes, sliced strawberries, granola, peanut/almond butter and more.

Poke bowls can have different bases made of white rice, brown rice, jasmine rice and more that are topped with ahi tuna, salmon, avocado and other flavorful toppings. Filled with protein and health boosters, these bowls benefit the immune system.

If looking for a filling and delicious green bowl, Mediterranean bowls contain colorful veggies, chickpeas, quinoa and other Mediterranean delights. These nutritional bowls have vegetarian options for toppings, such as falafel, roasted veggies and other greens. These bowls are also called “Buddha Bowls.”
