On April 15 during lunch, students filed into the Activities Office to vote on the Student Council and class elections. Originally, elections were held a week earlier through online voting; however, the election was rescheduled to ensure valid results. The election consisted of electing a Student Council President, Vice President, Secretary, Class President and Vice Presidents for the 2024-25 school year.
For the upcoming sophomores, the secretary will be Sophie Perales and Vice President Dani Gems. The treasurer and president positions have not yet been filled.
The class of 2026 will have two treasurers, Indeah Lane and Brooke Barnett. Andie Gussin will fill the secretary position. The Vice President of Fundraising is to be decided and applications will be sent out in the coming weeks. Lastly, Tristan Gettinger will be Vice President and Ruby Pelz will be President of the class of ‘26. For the soon-to-be seniors of 2025, The treasurers will remain the same with Madison Williams and Alexis Cohen. President and Vice President will remain the same, with Sydney Lambert and Ava Graziano respectively, winning for the second year in a row after being unopposed this year. Their secretary is yet to be determined.
As for the Student Council board, the secretary position will be filled by Mia Shields, a three-year secretary for the Class of 2025. With her experience as class secretary, Shields sought to take the next step and be Student Council Secretary.
Junior Noah Coulton won the Vice Presidency unopposed. This year was Coulton’s first on Student Council, and he expresses excitement toward bringing a fresh perspective and getting more involved with the school and student body.
“I’m really just excited to make a change, bringing good ideas to the table, hopefully leave a lasting impression on the school,” Coulton said.
In his Vice Presidency, Coulton aims to uplift his peers and increase inclusivity and involvement school-wide.
“I feel like there’s a lot of people out there that don’t really have a voice in the school. They probably have amazing ideas. So I’m trying to bring their ideas to the table to also make them have a lasting impression on the school,” Coulton said.
After competitive campaigns for the spot of Student Council President among two other candidates, Scott Gould has won. Gould looks forward to making a difference in the school and having a great year.
“I’m looking forward to working with my fellow peers and Student Council members to boost class morale and have a great school year,” Gould said.
