Putin and Zelenskyy Meeting Possible After Peace Talks

As of Mar. 28, Ukraine offered to have face-to-face peace talks with Russia within the coming weeks, which could create a possible opening for a ceasefire between the two nations, putting an end to the war at hand.

In a grueling scene of war between Russia and Ukraine, hope presents itself if delegates of the two warring nations meet to discuss a possible deal. This deal would involve Ukraine abandoning its campaign and joining the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance (NATO) for security purposes.

Furthermore, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made it clear in the possible compromise that, if successful, Russia must withdraw all its troops from within Ukraine’s borders.

However, according to Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, this meeting can only be held if the two countries agree on some key issues first.

Unfortunately, according to a U.S. official on Monday, Putin did not seem “ready to make compromises to end the war.” This leaves questions as to if Putin will cooperate, considering the current war climate.
