Nebraska Volleyball Set Women’s Sporting Event World Record

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, also known as “Volleyball Day in Nebraska,” the University of Nebraska-Lincoln versus the University of Nebraska-Omaha women’s volleyball match brought in 92,003 fans, breaking the world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event.

The game at Memorial Stadium, Nebraska’s football stadium, broke the previous women’s sports record of 91,648 fans set by a Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Wolfsburg FC on April 22, 2022.

After the second set of the game, the Huskers heard the news of their record-breaking attendance, and the athletics department has shown their continued gratitude for the fanbase since then.

This is a record broken not only for women’s sports but also for the National Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball, as the attendance record at an NCAA volleyball game before this one had been only 18,755.
