Included with the release of Sony’s Playstation 5, new exclusive games like Astroworld began to sell in stores. Insomniac’s “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” has become the most popular and highly desired of these exclusives.

“Spider-Man: Miles Morales” acts as a spinoff/sequel to Insomniac’s 2018 Spider-Man. This game delves into the struggles and hardships superheroes endure, and more importantly, Marvel’s Spider-Man.

This game, similar to its predecessor, remains a Sony exclusive, meaning only people that own a Playstation 4 or 5 can purchase and dive into Miles’ story.

To the delight of many gamers, this game can be played on the Playstation 5 as well as the Playstation 4. Due to the difficulty of obtaining a Playstation 5, following its recent release, Insomniac and Sony decided the best decision would be to allow older Sony console players to have access to this 2020 hit.

Palmetto Senior High sophomore Jonathan Newman believes that this was a smart idea on the part of Sony, for more copies sold to those who use older consoles.

When playing the game on the  next generation console, “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” takes advantage of all the new features included with the PS5. The new features include ray tracing, which allows windows and reflective surfaces to reflect what is going on in the world, and haptic triggers, which the controller triggers require more pressure to press, making the swinging more immersive

“Those new features with the controllers and graphics definitely makes games like this better and makes you feel like you’re in it,” Palmetto sophomore Hunter Jordan said.

Unlike the previous Spider-Man game, “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” focuses more on one city, Harlem, rather than New York City in its entirety. This allows for more connections with side characters.

The game also has very quick loading screen times. This feature, however, only shows on the Playstation 5.

The loading speeds and increased graphics are a large selling point for the next-generation consoles and give people more incentive to buy them.

For an extra twenty dollars, the player can receive and play the remastered version of the original Spider-Man, with the improved graphics of the PS5.

“It’s actually a really good idea to include the original game, because it allows people who didn’t have it before to play it now with the new graphics and stuff,” Jordan said.
