Looting Spree Across the City of Philadelphia

On Tuesday night, a group of young looters in Philadelphia stole from several stores, including Apple and Lululemon. Since the robberies, Philadelphia Police officers have arrested over 50 individuals found participating in this looting spree.

Peaceful protests against a judge’s decision to remove all charges against a former Philadelphia police officer in a traffic stop shooting took place in downtown Philadelphia a half hour prior to the looting. Police believe the looting was unrelated to the protest, leaving the reasoning behind this crime unknown.

On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced that all liquor stores were closing in Philadelphia after multiple locations were looted on Tuesday night. This looting was spontaneous, as the plans to raid spread through Instagram. Angry individuals took to Instagram to share their distaste towards the Eddie Irizarry case and specifically mentioned their plans to loot certain stores in Philadelphia.

As Philadelphia recovers from Tuesday’s events, police will continue uncovering more information about the incident.
