National Basketball Association (NBA) player Lebron James has officially broken the record for most points scored in an NBA career.

James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the record. The record stood at 38,388 points, but on Feb. 7, in a game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans, James not only carried the Lakers to a victory but broke a record in the process.

After 20 years, three teams, four championships and 1,410 regular-season games, James holds the record of 38,390 points scored throughout his NBA career. Abdul-Jabbar set the record on April 5 of 1984, and after about 40 years, James is the only one who has been able to pass it.

James was beyond thrilled after beating the record, in those 40 years Kevin Durant came close to beating the record, but James beat it before anyone else could. The reaction and response to James have been very mixed, as some fans are excited and thrilled for him, meanwhile, many Abdul-Jabbar fans feel upset.
