The Best Breakfast Spots in Miami

Tomas Curcio, Staff Writer

Every morning, students rush out their front doors to arrive at school before the 7:20 bell rings. In an attempt to get some food in their systems before school, students often saunter in with hands wrapped around Starbucks coffees and bags of baked goods to nibble on for breakfast. However, given the wide variety of local breakfast options in Miami, it seems nonsensical to keep relying upon these large chain breakfast spots. These are a few local Miami breakfast locations that any hungry student should check out.

The Original Lots of Lox

Lots of Lox is a New York style deli nestled next to Aldi’s off US-1. The deli offers a wide variety of delicious meals, such as their Breakfast Special, which includes two eggs of any style served with home fries, grits, fruit salad, coffee and the choice of either toast or a bagel with cream cheese. Besides their main meals, the restaurant offers a wide variety of bagel toppings such as butter, cream cheese, lox spread, peanut butter, white fish salad or even a baked salmon and cream cheese. The location also offers a Passover menu that consists of kosher meals for Jewish restaurant goers.

Wayside Market

For a quicker meal, Wayside Market on Red Rd. in Pinecrest can fulfill those who are on-the-go. The small market offers a wide variety of smoothies and snacks, with many bikers and pedestrians using the location as a pitstop. The market offers simple shakes such as strawberry, banana, passion fruit, mamey, chocolate and much more. Menu offerings include concoctions such as the Wayside Sunrise, banana cinnamon or the peanut butter cup shake. Not only does the market offer these homemade remedies, but it also offers a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and candies to grab from.

Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar

This high-class espresso bar may be on the more expensive side, but it is definitely worth the price. Despite their equally appetizing lunch and dinner selections, Crema Gourmet’s All-Day Breakfast Menu is made up of a wide variety of meals such as acai bowls, chocolate chip pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. The drink selection of espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, cortaditos and so much more is world-class. Crema Gourmet has locations in downtown Miami, South Beach, Coral Gables, Brickell, Doral and Davie, FL.

Roasters N’ Toasters

Another New York deli, Roaster N’ Toasters has made a name for themselves through their catering and large platters. They offer the straightforward Breakfast Special from their All-Day Breakfast Menu, and for a larger group of people, one can get an assorted bagel platter, a large sandwich platter, a salad platter or even the varied party platters (these include the jumbo shrimp cocktail, crispy southern fried chicken and Mediterranean platters). Roasters N’ Toasters has locations in Aventura, Miami Beach, Pinecrest and The Falls.
