The outfits. The red shirts. The costumes. The takeovers. Senior Week. The seniors finally enjoyed the week, starting April 25, that was made entirely for them.
The week started off with College T-shirt day. Seniors wore a shirt of their college choice and represented that school for the entire day.
“I got to see where my friends were going to school if I didn’t ask them already,” Josh Levitats said.
The week continued with “Nerd day”. Seniors came out in their nerdy best, with some “nerd accessories”: rolling book bags, scientific calculators in their pocket, and the very famous broken glasses.
“It was fun to go all out in my nerdy outfit because it was goofy and people laughed at it,” Isabella Moreno said.
On Wednesday, seniors stepped into their teachers’ shoes during “Senior Takeover Day”. While other seniors were wearing red representing class color day, Stefania Pinto took over English teacher Dalia Pulido’s class and reviewed Great Gatsby with them.
“Ever since I left her class last year, I knew I wanted to take over her class,” Pinto said. “She was one of my favorite teachers, and it has been fun because I got teach something that I learned last year.”
Disney characters flooded the halls on Thursday as seniors participated in “Disney Character day”. The seniors dressed up as classic characters, which brought up the excitement level for Grad Night. David Czerwinski dressed up as Tinkerbell in his green suit and a tutu.
“I thought it would be cool to dress up has her because she is the complete opposite from me,” Czerwinski said. “Tinkerbell is the short clean fairy; I am a huge guy with a beard”.
The seniors ended their week by going to Disney’s Grad Night, the moment that many have been waiting for since the beginning of the year. It was time for students to celebrate their hard work and truly enjoy senior week. Seniors left the school at 1:20 pm and returned to Palmetto Saturday morning.
“I had low expectations for GradNight because it is usually kiddish, but they transformed it for us and it was awesome,” Jeanette Horowitz said.
Senior week is the last event before graduation and continues to show plenty of school spirit.
