Helping out the school and community
Jennifer, a member of Palmetto’s orchestra, is a renowned violinist, having earned six awards in violin, including Concertmaster of Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS) concert orchestra, and three awards in piano, including Honors recital.
“Playing the piano and violin has taught me discipline and the ability to stay dedicated to something for years and not quit not matter how hard it gets,” Jennifer said.
Over the summer, Jennifer spends her free time teaching people to share some of the passion she has for music.
“I teach piano during the summer; at the end of the summer I donate all my profits to the school orchestra program,” she said.
The people who motivate Jennifer are her sister and her new teacher, Dr. Hess.
“He [Dr. Hess] taught me to truly appreciate music, that it isn’t enough to just play the notes correctly,” Jennifer said.
When Jennifer faced tough times and considered quitting, Dr. Hess kept her in music and renewed her passion for it.
“I met him at a time when I was stuck in a low point of my career; if I had not met him I probably would not have been able to continue playing the piano and develop the love I currently have for it,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer also enjoys surfing the web and spending time with her friends.
“I think of myself as easygoing and hardworking and generally really friendly,” Jennifer said. “I wish for a future where I’m happy and comfortable just being myself.”
