With a wide variety of organic and local vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, and herbs, Coconut Grove’s Farmers’ Market provides Floridians with all the benefits of living in the Sunshine State.
This is the most organic of Miami’s outdoor markets, specializing in an array of mouthwatering local produce as well as ready-to-eat treats.
Glasser Organic Farms dominates the Grove’s farmers’ market. They always have fresh, raw and organic already-made goods such as vegetable pies, salads, sushi, and pizza, in addition to gourmet dishes such as stuffed Portobello mushroom cups.
The Farmers’ Market has an unlimited amount of nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruits and prepared raw foods like flax seed crackers, granola bars, dressings, and jams.
Vegans are often unable to consume desserts while eating out because of food recipe limitations. Luckily, the Grove’s the market provides vegans with plenty of treats to make up for what they are deprived of at other food dispensaries. Those who attend the market will find fruity cakes and pies, ice creams, fruit salads, and brownies, all which are made with vegan ingredients.
“I think being vegan is only for some people; it’s not quite for me,” senior Max Eisenberg said. “But the market is a great opportunity for vegans to easily get their desired food and products.”
Further along the strip stands a raw food stand, Lamoy’s Living Foods, where one can get a sample plate of five raw dishes, like curry pecan cuscus with a variety of salad choices, for $12. Lamoy makes healthy and enjoyable treats for everyone and especially enjoys seeing health conscious teens.
“I believe there is hope for the planet because people are more conscious about what they are putting into their body,” owner Lamoy Andressohn said. “My inspiration was my children. When I first became pregnant I decided that I needed to give my children the right nutrition.”
