New TV shows cut

With a heavy heart, major TV networks buried the lives of their poor, unsuccessful shows. Among the deceased were formally popular series, ones that could generally classify as unentertaining. While most fans wiped their tears away and coped by digesting a slew of new shows, some bombarded the murderous networks with pitchforks and torches in hand, ready to avenge their beloved shows.

“I’ve had my favorite shows cancelled in the past and it honestly sucks,” senior Andrew Miranda said. “It leaves you hanging and you know you’ll never get proper closure of the story.”

When ABC announced the cancellation of relatively young show, Neighbors in 2012, neurotic followers went up in arms to save it. For those who have never heard of Neighbors, it is the story of the Weavers, a family new to Hidden Hills, New Jersey where all of their neighbors are aliens from the planet Zabvron. However, these aliens do not hurt humans nor do they perform freaky experiments on them while they sleep leaving the Weavers with the decision to stay and even befriend their intergalactic community to help them adjust to planet Earth.
“I thought the show was pretty funny,” senior Liam Hunt said. “I wasn’t devastated when they cancelled it but I’d definitely watch it if was available.”

Only time (and ratings) will tell whether reviving Neighbors for a second season was a good idea or bound for failure once again. Along with Neighbors, Malibu County and Private Practice got the boot from ABC. In addition, CBS put an end to several series including Made in Jersey, Golden Boy and Rules of Engagement, a sitcom that came close to the chopping block several times in the past. Following suit, Fox cancelled Ben & Kate, Touch and Mob Doctor. Mourning fans must remember that with almost every show cancelled, one is renewed and with enough fanfare, theirs could make a comeback too.
