Meet Marcello Peschiera: Behind the scenes

December 13, 2015

Senior Marcello Peschiera– director, writer, filmmaker, photographer and gym enthusiast– is not the ordinary high school student. With dreams of becoming a director, Peschiera has written a total of nine scripts, and filmed a total of three short films. He continues to produce short films in his busy senior year while juggling hobbies, AP classes, college applications and homework along the way.

Working with photography for seven years now, Peschiera practices his love for the art by doing photo shoots with student models. Depending on location, theme or any equipment needed, he typically charges from $80-$150. Marcello began growing his skills with the camera in middle school by the help of one his counselors, Mr. Garcia.

“[Mr. Garcia] introduced me to ‘real’ photography in middle school. I had been a photographer for a few years with my film camera but he taught me how to really be a photographer,” Peschiera said. “I started out with a film Nikon camera and worked my way up to a Canon 6D.”

Along with photography, a talent for playing on the drums was born with Marcello. The loud banging of his white set can be heard throughout the Peschiera household. Just like his other hobbies, he started drumming in middle school and soon realized his true love for the instrument.

“I started playing drums in the 5th grade to impress a girl and fell in love with the drums more than I did the girl,” senior Marcello Peschiera said.

Peschiera traveled the nation last year with his set of drums and a band known as The Plot in You. He visited multiple cities and also toured with smaller bands that helped build his love and skill for the drums.

“On my last tour, we were on the road for about a month and hit many cities across the U.S. like Tampa, New Orleans, Charlotte and many others,” Peschiera said. “We toured with smaller bands called Cane Hill and the co-headliner The Acacia Strain.”

Marcello has been also working on to being a personal trainer. He goes to the gym by his house almost everyday and sometimes works with close friends to teach them tips on how to achieve their goals.

“I had learned all the moves from my trainer and in order to learn more, I took personal training classes and kept working out,” Peschiera said. “Since then, I’ve been going to the gym almost everyday for a couple hours!”

If you have not seen Marcello at the gym already, then he will most likely be sitting in his man cave writing his next upcoming dark short film for his own and growing production company known as Bellows Productions.

Starting out with his first short film titled “The Sleepover” in his middle school days, Peschiera’s productions: The Ringleader, Myth of Lasting Sympathy and Gracie are all available on his YouTube channel. Behind the scenes footage of The Ringleader is also available to view.

“I’ve been directing for a couple of years now,” senior Marcello Peschiera said. “I’ve only directed my own stories.”

Peschiera’s films are filled with dark and thrilling scenes just like those of Tim Burton. His story-telling scripts and intense style of writing never fail to attract attention.

“I’ve been writing for about three years now,” senior Marcello Peschiera said. “I started writing short stories and learned the script writing format on my own which helped me transition into getting more serious about my filmmaking.”

Marcello has only just begun his way into the competitive filmmaking business. He has already started off strong and now has his own website that features his past photoshoots and short films. With views beginning to stack on his YouTube videos, Bellows Productions is slowly beginning to take shape.

“Directing and filmmaking is my passion. It’s what I would do for the rest of my life if possible,” senior Marcello Peschiera said. “I’m trying to work my way into the industry slowly but the reach is to be a full-blown movie director.”
