Five must-have hair oils

April 3, 2017

In the beauty community, oils have received a bad reputation. Beauty ideals condemn natural oils often, promoting products intended to volumize and mattify hair. Yet the constant depletion of natural oils can wreak havoc on hair follicles. The absence of hair oil leads to an absence of moisture which leaves the hair brittle and fragile. With the following five hair oils achieving strong and healthy hair will no longer be a struggle.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is the perfect oil for all hair types. Its high potency of vitamin E and other nutrients results in thicker, shinier, and healthier hair. Coconut oil also contains lauric and capric acid – both having antimicrobial properties – which promote a healthier scalp and prevent dandruff. In order to reap the most benefit out of coconut oil, it is important to use extra-virgin coconut oil.

Argan Oil:

While argan oil often leans towards the pricier side of oils, it proves well worth the splurge. Argan oil contains an abundance of vitamin E, Omega nine and three fatty acids, and antioxidants. These amazing properties work wonders on moisturizing and softening dry and coarse hair. Argan has the power to give even the most unmanageable of hair a good hair day.

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil:

Olive oil and its amazing qualities go beyond the kitchen. Its high content of vitamins E and K as well as the minerals calcium and potassium leave hair feeling re-born. Olive oil has also gained popularity as a hair treatment with its hair growing qualities. Whether used to slick back frizzy hair or stimulate hair growth, extra-virgin olive oil is the perfect at home hair treatment.

Rosemary Essential Oil:

Rosemary Essential oil may be the solution to thin and brittle hair. Its rich content of vitamin B, iron and calcium makes it the perfect candidate for clarifying stands and promoting hair growth and thickness. As an essential oil rosemary oil is very strong so diluting it in any of the oils previously mentioned is recommended.

Avocado Oil:

Surprise–there’s more to love about this creamy fruit. Avocado oils, similar to avocados themselves, contain proteins, healthy fats, amino acids, and vitamins A, D, E and B6, all of which help to repair damaged strands and prevent future breakage. This oil knocks out frizz and locks in moisture, making it a great hair treatment.
